We must know first of all, why we should sterilise jars for all preserves. The answer is, that a fresh and clean jar is an important part of keeping jams and pickles for a long period.
By sterilising the jars will be safeguarded from any bacteria, fungi, or yeast. At the end protect the food you going to put in the jar. If you use dirty jars then the food inside is going to be infected and spoil quickly.
Trust me, sterilising is an extremely easy process. Here are quick and easy ways how to sterilise properly.
There are mainly 3 preservation methods for sterilising

- Dishwasher method
Reasons why you need to sterilize
- Fungi or bacteria can easily spread in the jars without affecting the look, smell, or taste of the food. It can be dangerous where no awareness of food being spoiled until you feel a stomach ache.
- Cleaning or sterilising the jars extends the shelf life of food inside.
Sterilisation by oven
- Clean each jar and lids with hot soapy water. Skip the drying part.
- Preheat your oven to 180 degrees
- Place jars and lids on the baking tray and put it in the oven for 10 minutes.
- Now, turn off the oven and leave the jars inside keeping them warm.
Boiling method
- Clean each jar and lids with hot soapy water.

- Boil it for 10-15 minutes. Ensure that jars are completely covered.
- By using a clean thong, remove the jars and place them on a tea towel putting them upside down to air dry.
Dishwasher method

- Run the jars through the hottest dishwasher cycle.
- After washing, keep the jars in the dishwasher until it ready to fill.
